Calculating Income
by Darrel Hawes
The purpose of this section is measurement; all of the different ways of keeping track of your accounting and finances. Here is where you need to know how to use tools: spreadsheets,
accounting software, etc. This is where bookkeeping fits in. Even professional accountants like
myself have to do a lot of the drudgery related to keeping track of
minute details. What I have found most helpful is to automate where is
makes sense, to save time and avoid errors in data, and to give some
clear thought to what level of detail you really need. Is 100 expense
categories necessary? The more complicated your system is, the more
likely you will make mistakes when entering data. We are going to continue to offer many resources for maximizing your use
of Quickbooks and Microsoft Excel, and also other competing tools.
